Another beautiful picture. Some how the gray scale conveys lot more than full color.
I am curious bcoz there is lack of scale reference. I guess this snap is taken standing in the trail and both sides of the trail are flanked by small shrubs. But there is equal possibility that this was shot either from a hillock and the vegetation might be trees instead of shrubs.
Your first observation was correct. The dirt road is lined with low sagebrush. There are tall trees on the hillside in the background and much denser tree studded hills to the right of this view. That is where the mule deer and huge, beautiful elk graze and forage. I don't have the long lens necessary to capture photos of the incredible wildlife. Perhaps next year. It's on my wish list.

Beautiful landscape - I love the way the clouds hang overhead in the frame and their shadow on the mountain.
.:A:., the weather was so extraordinary that whole week. windy with amazing cloud formations, their shadows were deep and constantly changing.
That is a specacular picture!!
i had driven on a road very similar chasing the setting sun; wrote a poem abt it too.
