initially, i was taken by the interplay of the roots. later, i wonder what led to their fate, assuming that their bed (of soil) fell into the brackish water table. alas, they were together on that final day.

blink, their roots become exposed twice a day by tidal influence. they are in a salty bed at the estuary, the arm of the sea.
